Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday & Read Across America Day

Do you have fond memories of being tucked into bed as a child, as one of your parents or siblings read a book to you as you fell asleep? Richard Scary books are classics, or maybe you enjoyed the chill from reading Goosebumps or the adventures of the Box Car Kids. Out of all the children’s classics, no one has made an impact on literature like Dr. Seuss.

Dr. Seuss, also known as Theodor Geisel, was born on March 2nd, 1904 in Massachusetts. Dr. Seuss wrote over 60+ children’s books before passing away in 1991. His books were translated into 15+ languages, with over 200 million copies in print. Chances are you’ve read The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who, Green Eggs and Ham or Oh, the Places You’ll Go! In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, the National Education Association is celebrating the 17th Read Across America Day on March 3rd. It is the NEA’s hope that children and adults alike will cultivate a love of reading. What better way to celebrate Read Across American Day than in a seussical fashion!
