Celebrate the End of Summer
Are you disappointed that summer is coming to a close? Labor Day is fast approaching and the kids are back in school. As lazy fall days and changing leaves are on the horizon, why not celebrate the end of summer before it’s too late?
There are many things you can do to enjoy the remaining sunny days and warm nights. Have you visited a waterpark yet this summer? Kentucky Kingdom is open and features a remodeled waterpark. New slides, rapids, cabanas and more await you at Hurricane Bay. Now’s the perfect time to enjoy a ride down Deep Water Dive, the nation’s tallest and fastest body slide to date.
Day passes to Kentucky Kingdom during the Kentucky State Fair are $19.95, plus fair admission. Or, purchase a Fall Season general admission pass for $29.95 to have unlimited access on the weekends from August 29th through September 1st.
Want a change of scenery? Plan a day trip to Holiday World in Santa Claus, IN. Only a little over an hour away, Holiday World is a great trip to mark the end of summer. Their water park, Splashin’ Safari is one of the best around. All ages will enjoy this family friendly park, complete with free soft drinks and sunscreen. Tour the park now, because it will look different next season when the anticipated Thunderbird opens! This first steel coaster at the park, Thunderbird will also be the first launched wing coaster in the country.
This weekend on August 23rd, Holiday World will be hosting Rock The World, a concert series featuring Grammy award winners TobyMac, Sanctus Real, Mandisa and 1Girl Nation. Tickets to the park and outdoor concert are $70.00. On Labor Day Weekend, you can enjoy the Red, White and Bluegrass Festival. Bluegrass artists will take the stage all weekend, included with your general admission. Purchase tickets online prior to arriving for a special discounted price of $39.95.
Does the thought of battling crowds to hit a water park seem exhausting? There’s no harm in admitting that! You can still celebrate the end of summer. Plan a low key day at the pool, even host a small pool party if you’re feeling up to it! You can also stop at your favorite local deli, then head to a local sprayground like The Parklands or at Waterfront Park. Whatever sounds like fun, take advantage of the weather and celebrate the end of summer!
