Eighth Annual Mayor’s Youth Opportunity Showcase
These are trying times for the job market, and getting your foot in the door at a young age accounts for everything. The competition is intense, and by building your work history at a tender age, you can ensure that you will be an impressive standout to potential employers. A job during your teen years and early twenties can show that you have a motivation to work hard, that you strive for success, and are dedicated wholeheartedly to your search for the perfect career.
If you’re between the ages of 16 and 21 and are looking for employment, or have a child or grandchild seeking a job, then there’s an event in Louisville this Saturday that you can’t afford to miss. The Eighth Annual Mayor’s Youth Opportunity Showcase is being held this weekend to promote work opportunity for young adults in the Louisville area. This showcase is intended to bring together employers and possible employees from around the city in the hopes of reinforcing the job market, as well as improving the career opportunities (both present and future) of our community’s youth. This event is free to the public, as well as any prospective employers looking to fill positions at their business.
This showcase is the real deal, so make sure you come dressed to impress, both inside and out. Employers may be ready to interview on the spot, and you should be ready with a positive attitude and great handshake. At this event you will have the chance to apply for part time and summertime positions, as well as a few full time jobs and some volunteer/educational opportunities. Business attire is the best way to go for those attending, and a copy of your resume will go great lengths in capturing the interest of the employers you want to work with. And never forget, a big smile does wonders for first impressions.
Make sure you bring some form of I.D. to this event if you’re looking to get hired immediately. Whether you’re looking for something to provide a little extra cash over the summer, or a part time job that will look good on your resume, this showcase has something for you. It’s never too early to start assembling a notable work history, and it’s never too late to go on the hunt for that dream job. Come to the Mayor’s Youth Opportunity Showcase and see who’s looking to work with you!
