22nd Annual Taste of Frankfort Avenue
Have you ever wanted to explore all the delicious restaurants along Frankfort Avenue? You can this weekend at the 22nd Annual Taste of Frankfort Avenue. Come celebrate this unique community within Louisville, while enjoying unique cuisine. Participating restaurants include Bistro 1860, Boombozz Pizza, Bourbon’s Bistro, Coal’s Artisan Pizza, Comfy Cow, Crave Café, Gary’s on Spring, Heine Brother Coffee, Homemade Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen, Irish Rover, North End Café, Porcini, Silver Dollar, Varanese, Vint and Volare. The Taste of Frankfort Avenue takes place on Sunday, June 22nd at 5:00 p.m. at the Clifton Center. Tickets are $45.00 - $75.00 and benefit the Clifton Center.
2014 Upper Highlands Festival
This Saturday, June 21st marks the tenth annual Upper Highlands Festival. Hosted on the front lawn of Atherton High School, this festival will provide a day full of fun activities. Guests will enjoy live entertainment, special speakers and a picnic theme. Rob-a Que and Papa John’s will be on site with food to purchase. Vendor booths will be set up for guests to check out. Don’t let the forecast keep you away, the event will be moved indoors if it rains.
Other things you won’t want to miss include a petting zoo with a kangaroo and the Louisville Magic Club. The local Fire and Police departments will be available to meet with interactive exhibits. The Red Cross bloodmobile will be there as well if you’d like to donate! Metro Animal Services, Voter Registration and the Metro Louisville Recycling program will also be at the festival. Residents and guests are welcome to stop into the Upper Highlands Festival on Saturday anytime between 11:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Old Louisville Hidden Treasures Garden Tour
Anyone who is a fan of gardens will enjoy this walking tour. The Hidden Treasures Garden Tour will explore beautiful gardens throughout Old Louisville. View the intricately designed spaces that surround the Victorian homes located throughout the neighborhood. The tour will visit a section of Old Louisville, so walking will be centrally located once the tour starts. Tickets are $15.00. The Old Louisville Hidden Treasures Garden Tour takes place Saturday, June 21st and Sunday, June 22nd from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sixth for a Cause: Pints for Pets
Gerstle’s Place is partnering with the West Sixth Taproom in Lexington, KY. Together, they will host the Sixth for a Cause event, which will raise money for the Kentucky Humane Society’s Help Me Heal Fund. Six percent of all proceeds will be donated to this great charity, which funds necessary medical treatments for pets. These medical treatments can make a difference in whether or not a pet gets adopted.
Live entertainment will be available throughout the event on Saturday, June 21st from noon until 9:00 p.m. The Filly Nelson Pale Ale will be on tap. Bring your dogs to this outdoor event. Special dog treats will be available for all dogs. Visit the Sixth for a Cause facebook page for more details.
