Events Around Louisville November 14th to 16th
Don’t let the cooler weather keep you from getting out this weekend! There are a lot of great events around Louisville. Beautiful Christmas trees, sports legends and great music round out the weekend picks!
Festival of Trees and Lights
Now in its twenty-fifth year, the Festival of Trees and Lights will take over Slugger Field this weekend. Volunteers will help to decorate Christmas trees and other holiday décor. The items will be for sale, with proceeds supporting the neuroscience and neurosurgery programs at Kosair Children’s Hospital.
The event runs all weekend. Friday, November 14th is a preview day where you can view the decorations and start your shopping. From 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. it is Dickens Family Night. Costumed characters and Santa Claus will be making an appearance. A fireworks show will complete the night!
Additional activities are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. These days are Scout Days. Scouts should come in their uniforms to receive a special event patch. An ice skating rink, sweet shop and holiday entertainment will round out daily activities.
Admission is $5.00 for senior and children twelve and under. Adult admission is $8.00. Funds raised throughout the weekend will help Kosair Children’s Hospital hire additional specialists needed in the neurology and neurosurgery programs. New equipment is also needed in these important programs.
Salute to the Legends
If you’re a University of Louisville or Kentucky fan, you won’t want to miss this special night. Salute to the Legends will feature local sports legends, telling stories and reminiscing throughout the evening. The cocktail party will include a live auction and raffles. Guests can mingle with their favorite sports stars.
Tickets are $75.00 per person. Funds raised will support Boys Haven. Registration starts at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 16th, while the reception will last from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The event will take place downtown at the Muhammad Ali Center.
There are a lot of great concerts around Louisville this weekend. On Friday night Old Crow Medicine will perform at The Louisville Palace. The Hoppers will be at Highview Baptist Church’s East Campus. Proceeds from the concert will support Sunrise Services. Or, you can see the Trust’s final show at Headliners on Friday night.
Eric Hutchinson will perform at The Mercury Ballroom, with Tristan Prettyman Friday night. On Saturday, Led Zepplin 2 will perform there. You can also head to Whitney Hall on Saturday, where Glee star Matthew Morrison will be performing with the Louisville Orchestra.
On Sunday Jackie Evancho will perform at the Louisville Palace. You can head to First Baptist Church in Mt. Washington to see The Annie Moses Band in concert. A weekend of music will close out with Dick Sisto and Jeremy Allen in concert at the Clifton Center. Pick your concert and enjoy!
