Events Around Louisville October 31st
Happy Halloween! Cooler weather has finally decided to make its way to Louisville, and just in time for Halloween. Don’t let the evening showers rain on your Halloween weekend. There are some great things going on around Louisville! Fight the urge to stay inside with a cup of hot chocolate or tea, get out and see what’s going on around town.
Fat Friday Hop
It’s the last Friday of the month and Halloween, which makes for a great Fat Friday Hop! Extra trolleys will be running along Frankfort Ave. from River Rd. to Cannons Ln. in honor of the special evening. The free trolleys will run from 6:00 to 10:30 p.m. tonight. Come dressed in your favorite costume!
Special events in honor of Halloween include trick-or-treating at local businesses. A Reader’s Corner Bookstore will have live music and snacks. El Mundo is hosting a Day of the Dead party, complete with freebies. The Irish Rover is hosting an informal jam session starting at 8:00 p.m. Or, stop by Varanese for special drinks and live jazz music.
Haunted Hillcrest Avenue
Take advantage of an extra trolley stop on the Fat Friday Hop. Hillcrest Avenue is a Halloween legend here in Louisville. No doubt about it, it’s the spookiest street in Louisville this weekend. An annual event, people will drive to Hillcrest Avenue from all across Louisville to see the best decorations in town. It’s definitely the street to trick-or-treat down!
Visitors are encouraged to bring a non-perishable item when they stop by. Drop it in a designated crate, where donations collected will be given to support the United Crescent Hill Ministries. The haunted Hillcrest Avenue is located between Frankfort Ave. and Brownsboro Rd.
Animal Pumpkin Encounters at the Louisville Zoo
The World’s Largest Halloween Party is officially over, but the fun is just getting started for many of the animals! Now that families have celebrated Halloween at the zoo, the animals get a turn. How do you think the animals will celebrate?
The zoo’s Halloween party featured a large collection of pumpkins the past several weeks. Instead of discarding them all, some have been set aside for a special treat. Several animals will receive pumpkins throughout the day today in honor of Halloween. If you’re headed to the zoo, make sure you check out the gorillas, elephants, lions, tigers and bears – oh my!
Special pumpkin encounters for the animals encourage enrichment and fun for everyone around. Pumpkins will be given to selected animals throughout the day today. The Louisville Zoo is open until 5:00 p.m. Regular admission applies.
