Locust Grove Gardeners’ Fair & Silent Auction
Enjoy the beautiful view of Locust Grove as you purchase all things garden related this weekend. A wide variety of flowers, plants and herbs will be available to purchase. Accessories for planting and tools will be available as well. This is a great spot to find a unique piece of art for your garden! A silent auction will also be featured throughout the weekend. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on art, gardening items, quilts, antiques and gift certificates. Proceeds raised will support Locust Grove.
Admission is $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children age six to twelve. These prices include entry to Locust Grove, a tour of the historic home and entry to the garden fair and silent auction. The event runs May 9th to the 11th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Locust Grove is located at 561 Blankenbaker Ln.
Mt. Washington Spring Festival
This year marks the 35th annual Mt. Washington Spring Festival. The event kicks off Friday night with craft and vendor booths, carnival rides, food and live entertainment. Peoples Bank will be sponsoring a free movie night. Saturday morning starts with a 5K Run/Walk through the community. At 10:00 a.m. a parade will follow along Highway 44 E. to north on Old Bardstown Rd. This year’s theme is Family Traditions.
Throughout the afternoon attendees can pursue the booths, enjoy a fish fry, car show and more. A free gospel concert will take place Saturday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Mt. Washington. The Spring Festival takes place Friday, May 9th from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday, May 10th from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Check out the Mt. Washington Spring Festival for more information.
Spring Fling in the Parklands
The Parklands will be welcoming warmer weather with a splash this Saturday. Come out to the Creekside Center at Beckley Creek Park to enjoy a variety of fun, free activities. Children can take part in the Kosair Just for Kids 1K Fun Run at 11:00 a.m. Participants can make their own medal at the finish line, since everyone is a winner at Spring Fling! If you’d rather go on a hike, an Interpretive Ranger will lead a hike on the hour throughout the event.
You will have the opportunity to learn about mountain biking, paddling, fly casting and running while at The Parklands Saturday. Additional features will include solar observations, birding basics and a wellness fair. Come ready to make a splash, as the water will be turned on at the splash park! Masterson’s Catering will be on site if you’d like to purchase food. The Spring Fling is from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on May 10th.
