Experience Summer Fun at the Louisville Boat, RV & Sportshow

Are you already tired of the measurable snow, icy roads and freezing temperatures? Rumor has it that some local schools may be in session through the third week of June due to all the snow days that have been called. Winter is here and at its finest. When pounded with all it has to offer, I like to daydream about warmer days and all the outdoor activities I will enjoy this spring and summer. While daydreaming placates my thoughts momentarily, nothing beats the actual experience. Or does it?

The Progressive Louisville Boat, RV & Sportshow will bring summer to Louisville today through Sunday. The show is produced by the National Marine Manufacturers Association, one of the country’s leading boat and marine accessory manufacturers. The NMMA’s roots date back to 1904, anchoring their expertise in the industry. This year marks the 57th anniversary of the Boat, RV and Sportshow. The show will house over hundreds of booths including outfitters, resorts and vendors with gear for you to peruse. This is a great opportunity to escape the cold and be reminded of the summer fun that is yet to come!

The show has features that will engage all ages. Everyone will enjoy Rockin’, Rollin’ Bubbles, which will allow you to stand inside a giant roller and walk across a pool of water. Brave it alone or try it with a friend if you dare! The Kids Trout Pond is a fun activity for children twelve and younger. This catch and release experience will nurture a love for fishing in your children. On Saturday from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. they can also engage in Creepy Crawlers and Camps, an event they’re sure to love! At Paddlefest experts will demo paddleboards, kayaks and more. You can then try them out to see which one is your favorite. This is sure to be beneficial and comical if you’ve never tried to paddleboard before.

For those of you who are entertaining the thought of buying a boat, this show will be of great benefit to you. The Welcome to the Water Center should be your first stop when you arrive. Experts will offer unbiased advice and guide you in the right direction. Purchasing a boat is a big decision, both literally and figuratively speaking. An expert can help guide you through the decision process, whether it’s determining which boat meets your needs, utilizing local resources or advising you to attend their seminar for novice boaters “Boating 101.” This center will help you to be well informed financially, as many vendors will be offering special incentives and discounts during the boat show. If you are a current boat owner, make sure to stop by Fred’s Shed Interactive Learning Center. DIY seminars will be featured throughout the show, providing free practical advice for maintaining your dream boat.

Gills & Game Zone is sponsored by the Kentucky Dept. of Fish and Wildlife. You can test your skills or obtain your 2014 licenses and permits if needed. Fishing and hunting activities will also be showcased, including gear and expert advice. If you prefer to spend your time outdoors RVing, check out the RVing Bootcamp. Seminars will feature advice for both the novice and experienced RV campers. The Louisville Boat, RV and Sportshow opens Wednesday January 22nd from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Additional hours are Thursday and Friday, 12:00 – 9:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The show is at the KY Fair & Expo.
