Five Dollar February on Museum Row
One of the things we love about Louisville is the city’s appreciation of fine arts. You don’t have to drive far to visit a great museum. We have several in downtown Louisville. Many feature special exhibits, like Stealing Base: Cuba at Bat at the Louisville Slugger Museum. Americans Who Tell the Truth is now open at the Muhammad Ali Center.
You don’t have to plan a road trip to Chicago to see a Broadway production. The Kentucky Center for the Arts has welcomed four Tony award winning shows this season alone! Once was just in town this past week, and Disney’s The Lion King will be here for several weeks in March.
Maybe musicals aren’t your thing? Louisville is also home to fantastic art and craft galleries. The J.B. Speed Art Museum is currently undergoing a fifty million dollar expansion. You know Louisville loves its art, because the Local Speed museum was created to fill in the void of the main campus being closed. The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft and 21c Museum Hotel also feature great exhibits.
Louisville even has its own special nickname for Main Street, Museum Row on Main. Ten outstanding, original attractions are within four blocks along Main Street. There’s something to interest everyone along Museum Row.
The winter months are the perfect opportunity to explore Museum Row. The cold weather makes it a great time of year to leisurely stroll through a museum. As an extra incentive, Five Dollar February is almost here! Throughout the month of February, Kentucky and Indiana residents will enjoy $5.00 admission to participating Museum Row attractions.
The promotion is a yearly favorite around Louisville each February. All you have to do is show proof of residency when you purchase your tickets. Kentucky and Indiana residents can present their licenses or additional form of id with address.
Residents can visit the same museum multiple times, or branch out and visit several destinations. The $5.00 February promotion is valid all month, with unlimited usage. It’s a great way to take in both permanent and travelling exhibits.
Participating attractions along Museum Row include the Muhammad Ali Center, Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory, Kentucky Museum of Art & Craft and the Frazier History Museum. Each have their own special exhibits, ready for you to explore. Come see why Louisville loves the arts!
