Kentucky Derby Festival: April 28, 2015
The Kentucky Derby Festival 2015 celebration is far from over! Here’s a line-up of what’s happening on the 28th of April for this year’s festivities.
The Texas Hold’Em Tournament
This will be the 9th year for the Texas Hold’Em Tournament. This event will be aboard the Belle of Cincinnati. The boarding and checking in time is at 4:00 pm and the cruise and tournament will start at 6:00pm. The cruise will last for one hour and the remainder of the game is will be held at the dock area. The event will be limited to the first 325 participants. The tickets for the guests cost $15 and the entry is $125 Buy-in which is already inclusive of 10,000 chips and a commemorative pin of the Kentucky Derby Festival Texas Hold’Em. There will be prices given to the winner too; the first placer will receive $5000.00, a custom winner’s bracelet and $550 buy-in with an additional 1 VIP Party ticket worth $100 to the Southern Gaming’s Derby Poker Celebrity Bourbon Bash. The second placer will then receive 2 VIP Party Tickets to the same event.
The Kentucky Proud WineFest
This is a two-day event happening on the 28th and 29th of April from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Since there are over 66 wineries located in Kentucky and nearly 30 in Indiana, the Kentucky Derby Festival is taking advantage of this fact and will be giving a chance to the interested visitors to learn more about the wineries. They will also be able to get a sample taste of the delicious wines in a comfortable location. The venue will be at the East Belvedere at Waterfront Park. The ticket price is $40 and is already inclusive of a complimentary wine glass, samples of some of KY’s finest wines and an event pin.
Rose Royce and Midnight Star at Waterfront Jam presented by The John R. Elliot Hero Campaign
Happening at 8:00pm, Rose Royce, one of the funkiest bands, will perform at the Kentucky Derby Festivals’ Waterfront Jam which is presented by the John R. Elliot HERO Campaign. Joining the crowd are Party Band and Midnight Star. This is a FREE concert at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville and the admission comes with a free 2015 Pegasus pin. Unfortunately, you cannot bring in foods, drink and pets at the concert.
Republic Bank Pegasus Parade Preview Party
From 5:00pm until 9:00pm you can get up close and personal with the 2015 Republic Bank Pegasus Parade. You can get a sneak peak of the floats and inflatables which will be used for the parade at the Kentucky Exposition Center in South Wing C. The private group tours will start at 10:00am until 1:00pm and the open to the public tours will start at 5:00. Spectators, especially the kids, will have a spectacular time seeing and marveling at the giant character balloons, clowns and more!
