Learn to 'Shop Like a Design Pro' at U of L's Shelby Campus
Decorating a new space can be an adventure. First of all, you have to look at the room and make a few tough decisions. What would look best with the flooring? Do you want to change the flooring? And what about the paint? What colors would go well with the paint? It's a long process, and if you're unsure about what you're doing, you run the risk of ruining what could've been a beautiful living room or kitchen.
Two Wednesdays in April, classes will be held at U of L's Shelby Campus located in the Lyndon area of Louisville. The class is called 'Shop Like a Design Pro', and it's a pretty accurate description--the class will be taught by Amy Brombolich, interior design instructor and owner of Louisville Home Decorating, an interior design consultation business. If anybody knows anything about beautifying a space, it's Brombolich. With a Bachelor of Science degree from Missouri State University in the subject, she's one of the most sought-after interior designers in the city. Instead of doing the same things in every home she's consulted for, she takes pride in changing things up with interesting color schemes and arrangements. On April 10th and 17th, she hopes to give students a glimpse into the method of her beautiful, well-decorated madness.
Interior design isn't all about planning and plotting--it's just as much about knowing where to shop and find the best deals. Brombolich will be giving her valuable insight on this subject as well, informing attendees which places in Louisville sell the best things for the best price. There's not much you can do with a space if you don't know where to shop! The first class on the 10th will focus on teaching students the fundamentals of design--on the 17th, the class will be going on a field trip to Brombolich's favorite shops. If you've got a room or even an entire home to decorate, getting some insight from a master decorator could most certainly come in handy. There are few things more frustrating than finding out after the fact that you could've purchased something nicer for much less money at a different location. Brombolich hopes to save you from this headache!
