Douglass Hills in Louisville KY is a neighborhood full of history! Situated on the eastern side of Jefferson County in Louisville, this neighborhood has a lot of older ranch sytle houses which are similar in design. Most of the houses were built in the 1970’s which adds to the charm of the neighborhood . The more modern houses are designed to complement the older ones, making Douglas Hills a neighborhood which has been able to improve and welcome people of all ages.
Most of the houses in Douglas Hills have a basement and a one or two car garage. The houses are surrounded by tall trees and beautiful landscapes of rolling green lawns.
The entrance to Douglas Hills is demarcated by beautiful gates on the one end and the affluent Charlestown Apartment buildings on the other.
The neighborhood roads are lined by beautiful aged trees. There was a section of the neighborhood which was struck by a tornado in 1973; the only sign of this event is that the trees in that section are smaller than in other parts of Douglas Hills.
Douglas Hills has a clubhouse with a swimming pool, tennis courts, and a playground. Members of the neighborhood often spend their time socializing here. The swimming pool and playground attract the children, whilst the parents are able to relax and socialize, building friendships and creating a neighborhood of people that will be able to welcome new comers and support those in need.
The affluent apartment complex which encompasses one entrance to Douglas Hills is called Charlestown. These apartments are modernized yet they are emphasized by the lush landscapes and mature trees which surround them, giving each home owner a beautiful view!
Douglas Hills is classed as a 6th class city in Louisville; therefore it has its own mayor and city council. Douglas Hills also has many amenities such as schools, churches and supermarkets within its neighborhood boundaries! Douglas Hills is close to Middletown, giving you access to more amenities only a few minutes’ drive away!
