502 Restaurant Week - Support Dare to Care

The 502 area code, home to Louisville, is known for its amazing local cuisine. All you have to do is google “Louisville foodie status,” and you will see that our country agrees. In 2013 Food & Wine Magazine named East Market St. one of the 10 best foodie streets in America. In 2012 Zagat labeled Louisville one of the Best Foodie Getaways in the World. Southern Living has listed numerous local restaurants on their 100 Places to Eat Now list.

Louisville’s foodie status demands that we explore all the amazing cuisine our city has to offer. The 502 Restaurant Week is a great way to explore local restaurants. The event runs February 19th through March 5th. Participating restaurants will feature a special prix-fixe menu with a minimum of three selections for each course offered. One price covers all three courses. Staying true to the event's name, the specials are being offered for either $50.20 per couple or $50.20 per person. Check with your preferred restaurant to see if the special event pricing of $50.20 includes one or two diners.

There are over thirty-one restaurants currently signed up to participate in the 502 Restaurant Week. Some participating restaurants include local favorites such as the Chocolate Bar, Del Frisco’s, Gary’s On Spring and the Napa River Grill. The question won’t be which restaurant to visit, but how many you can enjoy during this great event! Visit the 502 Restaurant Week website to view all participating restaurants and the specials they are offering. It is highly recommended that you make reservations for your night out. Most restaurants accept reservations via Open Table. Consider downloading the event’s free app 502 EAT.

This is the second year for the 502 Restaurant Week. The 2013 event was such a success that it’s back again this year, bigger and better while lasting fifteen days! Start the event off right by attending the Taste of 502. Over sixteen local restaurants will be participating in this kickoff event. Preview special menus created just for the 502 Restaurant Week and additional wine tastings. The Taste of 502 is on Monday February 17th from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Grand Ballroom. Tickets are $50.00 at the door, with $30.00 being donated directly to Dare to Care food bank.

A proceed of all sales during the 502 Restaurant Week will be donated to the Dare to Care food bank. Dare to Care is a great resource to Kentuckiana that is dedicated to stopping hunger in our community. They provide food and support to over three hundred local social service agencies. Donors provide food or financial donations, which are transported to partnering agencies that provide meals for the hungry. Last year over twelve million meals were served! Dare to Care offers great programs like Backpack Buddy, the Community Kitchen, Mobile Pantry, Patrol Against Hunger and Cooking Matters. Only six percent of financial donations assist with administration costs, meaning that ninety-four percent goes directly into feeding the hungry in Kentuckiana!
