6th Annual Old Friends Along the Kentuckiana Bourbon Trail
Old Friends is a central Kentucky facility for retired thoroughbreds. It was founded in 2003 as a rescue when it was discovered that Derby winner Ferdinand had passed away in a slaughterhouse. Over 100 thoroughbreds and stallions call Old Friends home. This great facility is open to the public and has approximately 20,000 visitors annually.
You can show your support to Old Friends on February 22nd. The 6th Annual Old Friends Along the Kentuckiana Bourbon Trail event is being held at the Seelbach Hotel. Enjoy bourbon tastings, including Four Roses, Heaven Hill, Woodford Reserve and Maker’s Mark. Dinner will be served in the 5-Diamond Oak Room at the Seelbach Hotel. Finish the night with a live and silent auction, including numerous thoroughbred related items. Tickets are $100.00 per person. Yew Dell Botanical Gardens
Spring is on its way, and with its near arrival comes the beginning of gardening season. It’s time to start preparing cool season seeds for your garden. You will be enjoying broccoli, radishes, carrots and cabbage before you know it! Yew Dell Botanical Gardens is offering the Vegetable Garden 101 Series to help you get the best yield this season. Manager Ann Mattingly will lead three gardening workshops. The first session will focus on creating a vegetable garden calendar, including appropriate plant dates, indoor seed dates and mail order dates. In the second session, attendees will begin planting seeds. Discussion will include successful germination and home care to help your garden flourish this year. The first two sessions will be held February 22nd. Sssion 1 starts at 9:30 a.m. Tickets are $15.00 for members and $25.00 for non-members. Session 2 runs from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on February 22nd. Tickets are $20.00 for members and $30.00 for non-members. This price includes supplies to start planting seeds, but you are encouraged to bring your own as well.

Dance Louisville Studio
Are you starting to get jittery from being inside this winter season? Grab your significant other and head to the Dance Louisville Studio on February 23rd. They are offering the Louisville Beginners Lindy Hop Workshop. Come ready to have fun in this easy going environment. You will learn the basic steps needed to let loose at the next local swing dance. Tickets for the workshop are $35.00. If the Lindy Hop doesn’t sound enticing, the Dance Louisville Studio offers a variety of dance lessons including ballroom, salsa and two-step.
