Upcoming Events at Waterfront Park June 25th - 29th

Waterfront Wednesdays on the Big Four Lawn are anticipated, mid-week concerts that give you the lift you need to finish out the work week. The monthly concert series runs April through September on the last Wednesday of each month. This month’s lineup includes the Old 97’s, The Whigs and Dawn Landis. The concert is free to attend. No outside food or alcohol is allowed at the event, but a cash bar and upscale festival food will be available to purchase. The concert starts at 5:00 p.m. The Big Four Lawn is located between the Big Four Bridge and the Swing Garden at Waterfront Park.

If you’re a history buff, Waterfront Park and the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience are partnering together to offer the 2014 Waterfront Heritage Walks. This weekend historian Rick Bell will lead two separate walks at Waterfront Park. On Saturday, June 28th from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., guests will enjoy participating in a walking tour on the Big Four Bridge. Make sure you meet at the top of the ramp on the disc. Discussions will include the history of the bridge.

On Sunday, June 29th from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Rick Bell will lead a second walking tour throughout Waterfront Park. The free tour will start at the Belle of Louisville. Guests will stroll through Waterfront Park, ending at the Big Four Bridge. Discussions on this tour will include the riverfront’s role in Louisville’s development, from the American Revolution to the present. Participants will have the opportunity to purchase Rick Bell’s latest book and have his sign it. This walking tour is approximately one and a half miles, make sure you bring your tennis shoes! If you can’t attend this weekend’s tours, other walking tours will be available the last weekends in July and September.

Another event that is occurring repeatedly at Waterfront Park is Waterfront Yoga. This yoga class will help you relax, all while enjoying the scenic view of the Ohio River. You don’t have to be a yoga expert in this class. Whether or not you know how to strike a tree pose or a sun salutation, all are welcome to attend this weekly class. Waterfront Yoga will be taking place at the Brown-Forman Amphitheater, located by Tumbleweed on the River. Classes run every Tuesday through mid-September, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. for $5.00 per session.

Waterfront Park is located in downtown Louisville along River Road. Park hours are 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily. For more information including parking, visit www.louisvillewaterfront.com.
