Weekend Events Around Germantown
With fall weather comes the arrival of local festivals. They come in all shapes and sizes. Some festivals focus on art or music, usually accompanied with good food. Many local communities within Louisville host festivals to celebrate their neighborhoods and the unique people that reside there.
The 2014 Shotgun Music Festival is this Saturday. Get ready to enjoy a weekend of great music in Germantown! In Lighting will perform at 2:00 p.m. Elvis will follow at 3:00 p.m. IAMIS will take the stage at 4:00 p.m.
Do you enjoy dancing as much as you do listening to good music? Square dancing will take place at 5:00 p.m. The featured headliner is King Kong, who will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. Hang around afterward, because a dance party will take to the streets at 8:00 p.m. ARTxFM will DJ into the evening.
Louisville is becoming known for its great food truck association. Several food trucks will be available, serving delicious foods for you to enjoy. Vendor booths will be set up to sell crafts and other miscellaneous items.
The Shotgun Music Festival is sponsored by the GermanParistown Neighborhood Association. 2014 marks the eighth year for this neighborhood festival. Come meet the residents of Germantown and see why this is a growing community in Louisville. The Shotgun Music Festival will run September 13th from 2:00 to 9:30 p.m. The event will take place at Nachbar, at Krieger and Charles in Germantown.
Want to get a head start on your morning? The 2014 Schnitzelburg Area Community Council Yard Sale is September 13th. This neighborhood yard sale will take place in nearby Schbitzelburg, at the corner of Texas and Burnett. The council encourages you to come out, whether you’re looking to shop or meet your neighbors. The sale will run from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Later on Saturday night, check out the block party on Hickory Street. The 2014 Schnitzelburg Fall Walk will be in full force. From 5:00 to 11:00 p.m. enjoy live music and a variety of foods and drinks.
