The first home which was built on this area of land was a family home for James Bennett Wilder in 1870, which he named Bashford Manor. The boundaries for the Bashford Manor neighborhood in Louisville are I-264, Bardstown Road, Bashford Manor Lane and Newburg Road. After Wilder sold the manor it became a thoroughbred farm and home of three derby winners.
